Friday Finishes

I only had one finish this week.  A small zipper pouch.  I am working on a couple long term projects and I just needed the satisfaction that comes with a finished project.  Does that every happen to you?

It's about 9"x5" and is great to hold pencils or quilting tools.  This is probably about the 5th or 6th one I have made.  It's great because they only take about an hour to do.  Maybe less.  I don't have anything in mind for this bag so I might put it up on my Etsy store a bit later today.  (I just put it up for sale here.)

I did finish my June block of the A Year to Crow About BOM but I forgot to take a picture.  Ooops!  This one was much easier than the last.

And here is a cute picture of my kitty keeping me company while I made the bag just because this is a short post for me.  Besides, what quilting blog wouldn't be complete without a cute cat picture.  She's such a sweet kitty.

Voting for the Blogger's Quilt festival has started so head over to vote for your favorites.  I have one is the applique category.  It's number 5.  Its a snowman applique quilt.  (hint hint)  I obviously wouldn't mind if you voted for mine but there are so many cute quilts in every category.  Today is going to be fun to go through and vote!  Good luck everyone!

Today I am linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Craftsy!!!!

I am sure all of you know by now about the great site named Craftsy.  And if you don't, you should.  Signing up for the site is free.  You get access to all sorts of free classes, paid classes and great deals on all things Crafty.  I have taken several classes with them that I absolutely loved.  One of my favorites was Bag Making Basics.  I did a blog post about the awesome zipper pouch I made here.

These are a couple I made.  I have made 5!  And I have fabric and zippers set aside for more.  They are super easy after watching the videos.  The instructor was awesome and everything was super clear.  And this was just their free class.  I have also taken a couple of machine quilting classes that I will, at some point, post reviews of.  And they were just as amazing.

So if you haven't checked out Craftsy yet you should!

Finish it up Friday 3/15/2013

Ssshh, I actually finished this last week.  I had no finishes this week to share and I never shared this so I thought I would.  This is the result of a FREE craftsy class.  That's right folks, free.  I loved that class.  Its one of their mini classes and honestly I have made three of these pouches.  I am down to 45 mins a pouch.  It is taught by Kristin Link of Sew Mama Sew.  Here's the link.

My daughter stole one of them for her hand sewing items.  (so proud!)  She's only 8.  She does hand embroidery that is a bit unstructured at the moment but very cute.  I have taught her how to knot and thread her needle but nothing else really.  I figured that could wait until she gets used to the needle a bit more.  Right now she uses a variation of the running stitch.

This pouch was my favorite.  I got this fabric at my LQS in a fat quarter.  I am not sure of the line but I love it.  I am going to see if they have anymore when I go back this Saturday.  I am pretty sure I can get at least three of these bags out of 2 fat quarters.  One for the lining and one for the outside.

I use it to store my Hexi's!
